This washed coffee boasts notes of grapefruit, plum, and milk chocolate. A deliciously well-rounded and balanced cup, enjoy a citrus zing, stone fruit sweetness, and a smooth chocolate finish. Roasted gently, it maintains its soft acidity and balanced flavour profile.
Meet Luz Helena Salazar, the producer behind this micro lot and owner of Maracay farm in Armenia, Quindío, Colombia. As the mother of Cofinet’s founding farmers, Luz Helena’s journey into coffee began through her husband’s work in the industry. Over the past 20 years, she has refined her farm’s practices, producing high-quality specialty coffee. With meticulous care, she follows strict ripeness criteria and hand-sorts the cherries to ensure only the best are selected. These cherries are then washed, dried, and hulled at La Pradera, Cofinet’s nearby processing station.
This exceptional micro lot has taken an extraordinary journey across the Atlantic, transported by sail in partnership with New Dawn Traders and Cofinet. Sailing from Port Marta, Colombia, using only wind power, drastically reducing the environmental impact of shipping. New Dawn Traders are redefining global shipping, highlighting the environmental costs of traditional methods and promoting sustainable alternatives. The crew braved a longer-than-expected voyage, overcoming adverse weather, repairs, and the realities of life at sea. Departing from Amsterdam early in the year, the coffee finally arrived in Falmouth, Cornwall, in June.
At Voyager Coffee, understanding every step of our product’s journey—from farm to cup—is essential. Supporting initiatives like this aligns with our commitment to reducing environmental impact. In partnership with UK Coffee Week, 10% of sales from this coffee will be donated to Project Waterfall, a charity that provides clean water, sanitation, and education to coffee-growing communities worldwide.
