Our Colombian house single origin is from an organisation called Waylan Origin, doing great work in the Planadas region, set up by Edinson Vaquiro along with Volcafe. Waylan focuses on sustainable practices, quality control, and ethical trade. They have been instrumental in providing training and education to young coffee farmers in the region, helping them enhance the quality of their coffee beans and connect with international markets.
The municipality of Planadas is the third most important in Colombia in terms of coffee production and with good reason, the topography and climate are both excellent. Planadas has lots of mountains (21) and a peak altitude of 2350 metres above sea level. The high altitude and volcanic soil is perfect for growing high quality coffee.
We have chosen this Colombian coffee for its raspberry like sweetness, smooth brown sugar, and milk chocolate flavour profile. We love to have a house single origin coffee that provides a smooth full body accompanied by more delicate fruity acidity. Roasting this coffee gently allows us to maintain its balanced profile, working well for both espresso and filter.
