This delicious single-origin Kenyan coffee offers notes of juicy currants and dark chocolate, making it a standout choice for a sweet and syrupy filter or a vibrant, juicy espresso. What ever your brew method, Kamundu brings forward a distinctive Kenyan profile that’s bright, full-bodied, and unforgettable.
Sourced from the Kamundu Estate in the heart of Kiambu, located just outside Nairobi – a region with deep roots in Kenya’s coffee history. Established in the early 20th century and now owned by Kenyan company Sasini, Kamundu is one of six estates committed to community support and equitable practices. Sasini helps to provide its workers with quality housing, early child education, union representation, and above-standard wages. Through partnerships, they also invest in local education, funding projects like the recent computer lab at Njenga Karume Primary School to enhance digital learning for the community.
Grown at 1,950 meters, the cherries at Kamundu Estate are handpicked and naturally dried on raised beds for up to six weeks—a rarity in Kenya, where fully washed processing dominates. The high altitude, iron-rich volcanic soils, and cooler nighttime temperatures in Kiambu allow the cherries to mature slowly, enhancing their acidity and complexity.
