Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes when we’re perfecting our roast profiles? Our test roasts are an exciting way for you to enjoy delicious coffee while helping us reduce waste – a win-win!
We roast both our blends and single origin coffees in small batches on our two Genio roasters. To ensure every coffee we release is tasting its best, our roasters often run ‘test roasts’—trial batches designed to refine and perfect our roast profiles.
This means we occasionally have 1kg bags of test roast coffee – both blends and single origins – that need a home. Our test roast bags give you the opportunity to enjoy these coffees at a reduced price. The coffee may be a development roast or past our usual 10-day cut-off for peak release. However, different coffees age at different rates and they often still taste amazing well beyond 10 days – sometimes even a month or more post-roast.
